Job Description:
Our Ottawa based client is looking for a Technical Specialist for a contract period of 18 months (2 days per week = approx 156 days)
All candidates are required to possess secret clearance
The technical environment is comprised of several technologies:
• Veritas Cluster
• Vmware
• Exchange 2007
• HP EVA
Scope:
Exchange 2007 Implementation and Email Archiving
• Develop operational procedures and processes for backup/recovery, document and provide technology transfer to staff
• Provide 2nd level technical support to staff on Exchange 2007 migration, migration/operational related issues, assist with problem resolution
• Provide hands-on training to administrative staff charged with day-to-day administration of Exchange 2007 mailboxes and resources
• Develop testing and implementation processes and procedures for ongoing patching and updating of the Exchange 2007 environment, document and train technical staff as needed
• Review and optimize Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 monitoring, update monitoring thresholds as needed, provide technology transfer to staff
Disaster Recovery
• Perform lab testing and validation of disaster recovery configurations, develop operational procedures and processes for failover and failback, document and provide technology transfer to staff
• Implement disaster recovery configurations for file/print, messaging, mobile messaging and database services in conjunction with technical staff and document
• Implement validation processes and procedures to be used on an ongoing basis for disaster site failover/failback in conjunction with technical staff and document
Power and Environmental Management
• Perform lab testing and validation of power and environmental management solutions
• Develop installation, operational and usage processes and procedures for selected solutions and document
• Implement selected solutions in production and disaster recovery environments in conjunction with technical staff, document

The ideal candidate will have::
a minimum of 15 years experience in IT and a minimum of 10 years as a technology specialistMicrosoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) on Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003, and a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) for Enterprise Messaging on Exchange 2007experience in developing a technical operations documentexperience working with IT department to provide training and mentoring on Exchangeexperience in the provision of support to Exchange operational environmentsexperience in developing and documenting test processesexperience with implementing and configuring Microsoft Operations Manager or Microsoft Systems Center Operations Managerexperience in developing disaster recovery proceduresconfiguration of lab environments using virtualization
